There’s More to Calcium than Just Milk


I have never liked milk.  Actually the thought of drinking it makes me feel tortured, and even worse is the idea that without drinking it I will get brittle bones.  My grandmother has chosen ice cream as her calcium supplement of choice and though she is amazing at 93, I wanted to find some choices that did not lend toward a sugar crash or even worse contribute to gestational diabetes.

I already take a calcium supplement (1000 mg),  but I never like to use vitamins as a replacement for food, in fact they are very complementary.  So if you are like me and you prefer to find alternate ways to indulge in calcium rich foods, try some of my favorites like kale
, broccoli
, cabbage
, salmon,

    Soy contains phytoestrogens that can mimic our natural estrogen. I eat soy in moderation in sources like tofu, tempeh and edamame.
